zero defects

zero defects
A component of total quality management aimed at changing workers' attitudes to quality by stressing the goal of error-free performance. In practice, error-free performance is neither economically nor practically realizable. Experience suggests that, while short-term improvements may be achieved by these programs, performance usually returns to previous levels quite quickly. See absolute performance standard
